Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei has defended Deputy President William Ruto regarding his recent complains regarding happenings within the Jubilee Party.
Ruto's latest complain came on Sunday, where he questioned party secretary general Raphael Tuju's alleged involvement with the opposition bloc despite still being a Jubilee member.
Speaking on Monday, Shollei denied claims that Ruto is the new opposition body, saying that he is only uncomfortable with two things currently happening in the ruling side.
She outlined opposition leader Raila Odinga's alleged encroachment into party matters after his 2018 handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta and the truce's aftermath.
"Ruto anapinga tu vitu mbili; BBI na pia anataka kujua Jubilee tumefanya coalition ama nini (he is only opposed to two things; the BBI and also wants to know whether Jubilee is in a coalition)," she said on Radio Maisha, Monday morning.
The BBI (Building Bridges Initiative) is a 14-member team that was tasked by Uhuru and Raila to come up with lasting solutions to the nation's recurrent political problems.
Shollei added that Ruto has no reason to oppose the government considering that he is depending on the same government to realize his presidential bid.
She said the same is evident in his efforts towards ensuring that the Jubilee government succeeds in delivering in its campaign promises.
"Anafungua mabarabara na technical colleges na ndiye anayefuatilia zile miradi za Jubilee. Anajuchunga ili kule mbele aweze kusema this is what Jubilee ilileta.
(He is launching roads and technical colleges and is the one following up on Jubilee projects. He is being careful so that he can say "this is what Jubilee brought" in the future)," she said.
Ruto has been seen crisscrossing the nation while launching projects almost on a daily basis, which his critics from the opposition side have been claiming is an indirect campaign strategy.
