The quick marking of national exams overseen by Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has come under scathing attack.
Speaking on Tuesday, Kapenguria Member of Parliament Samuel Moroto blamed poor performance in KCPE and KCSE in some schools, on the hasty manner in which the marking was done.
Moroto, who said he was a teacher before running for political office, contended that the expedited marking of exams, meant those marking the papers were prone to making mistakes.
He said the process needed ample time for it to be properly and fairly done.
"Then there is the marking of the exam papers that sees the papers marked in two weeks and the results released in the third. I have been a teacher myself and marking even a composition takes tim. (Alafu hii marking, watoto wanamaliza mtihani alafu two weeks inakuwa marked alafu ya tatu results inatoka. Nimekuwa mwalimu hata kumark ile composition ya watoto class inachukua muda), " the Kapenguria legislator said.
Unlike in the past where examination results took months to be released, Prof Magoha's team managed to release both KCPE and KCSE exams before the Christmas festivities.
