Shalom hospital in Machakos county is on the spot again after a baby boy, Ethan Muendo died allegedly after injection.
According to reports, the baby had suffered from a burn caused by a water dispenser.
He succumbed two hours after the injection on Sunday. A nurse at the hospital allegedly gave him the jab to relieve pain.
Joseph Mburu, a registered nurse at Thika Level 5 hospital told hivisasa.com that "the nurse might have given the baby morphine to manage the pain caused by the burns and I don't have a problem with that."
The Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology graduate, however, said that the person who administered the injection might not have been aware of its ability to cause respiratory depression (breathing problems).
"In case of an overdose, worse still, there is an antidote for the overdose called Naxolone and no one bothered to give it to him," Mburu said.
"Our health sector is becoming more dangerous to patients than the sickness itself," he added.
The nurse advised that hospitals should stop hiring quacks, ignorant, arrogant and demotivated workforce.
So far, two medics attached to the hospital have been arrested and investigations are going on.
