They have maintained that Kenya needs change come 2022 by electing a transformative president to ensure economic turn around of the country.

The locals on Thursday took to a WhatsApp group, Mitaboni Political Forum, to push Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana to contest for the presidential seat in the next polls.

"It's time we change our leadership. Kibwana is the man to watch," posted PK Mutua, a member of the group.

"We should force this man to be our president even if he wants to retire. Kenya needs him so much," posted Daniel Nzomo in Kamba dialect, Kikamba.

Kibwana has been severally rated as the best governor due to his 'Solomonic' leadership and the develop track record in Makueni County.

Some of the projects which the county prides of under his leadership include Universal Health Care, Water projects, improved health facilities, and a fruit processing plant.

They have already formed different social media groups, WhatsApp and Facebook to dram support for Kibwana's 2022 presidential bid.

The groups include President Kivutha 2022 (WhatsApp) and Kivutha Tosha 2022 (Facebook).

Most of the Ukambani electorates are convinced that Kibwana is better than Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who has already declared his interest for the top job in the next polls.

"Mutua is the odd one out," posted  Gavana wa Masaku, a member of President Kivutha 2022 WhatsApp group.

Former Mitaboni MCA aspirant Kana Mwendwa said Kibwana should work harmoniously with other leaders from the region.

"We will bring all MPs, MCAs, and any other leaders into this platform to make sure Kibwana wins," Mwendwa said.

Mwendwa said the governor should work with other leaders like former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, a proposal that was trashed by some of the group members.

"Kabogo is not suitable. He should find a better leader," said Pius Mutinda.

The big question is whether Kivutha will agree to vie and whether other leaders are willing to support him.

Will he make it to the Statehouse?
