Deputy President William Ruto has responded after a vernacular song alluding that no community owed him anything, in terms of political support.
According to Jubilee plan, the Mt. Kenya region will back Ruto in 2022 after supporting President Uhuru during the past two elections.
The DP while speaking on Sunday during a church service at the All Saints Cathedral stated that nobody owed any community or person anything.
The DP stated that Kenyans should strive to preach unity.
“I want to remind leaders what Paul says in Romans 13:8; owe no man nothing except the debt of love for one another,” he said.
“That is the debt that all of us have, to love one another; no person, no community, no section of Kenya, owes anybody – including myself – anything.”
Here are some of the reactions from Kenyans.
@BromohKTabu Dp Ruto always means exactly opposite of what he says...I never take him serious
@shannyjep I am longing for a mention of DP Ruto that does not have anything to do with 2022 but developments to better Kenya.
@KinuthiaMorgan I say that by virtue of its longevity, the alliance between President Kenya and DP Ruto is already in the top-tier of Kenyan political coalitions.
@Machukah No one should take Kenyans in a circles, we must stop the intrigues. DP Ruto has support from coast, western, nyanza (kisii), north eastern, rift valley, eastern and part of central. He's unstoppable (king maker)
@BABASUMAIY Replying to @kipmurkomenIts not that DP Ruto has said he owes nobody debt,he is just coming to terms with the political reality of not succeeding Uhuru Kenyatta as the head of state come 2022.
@popat4u Dp Ruto sahi umesema tu vizuri hakuna deni ya mtu; isifike 2022 tuskie watu wakitangatanga wakidai eti; "tuliwapigia kura 2017, wakaahidi watarudisha mkono, lakini sasa wametugeuka, wanafuatana na yule jamaa wa vitendawili"
@BenedictMuduvi Why are people comparing DP Ruto to Mobuto Seseseko? Though i know very little or nothing of any of the two, DP ruto shouldn't accept this comparison!
@PJmwaura Misguided really, let DP Ruto tell us about the slavery at SGR, not politics of central Kenya debt
