When renowned lawyer and socio-political commentator Charles Kanjama met some individuals, he didn't know that they were actively planning to assassinate him.
The individuals pretended to be interested in the lawyer's legal services and he even shared with them his business number.
According to a law enforcement officer privy to the investigations into the attempted assassination, the meeting with Kanjama was aimed at introducing a gunman to him so that he (gunman) could familiarise himself with the person he was supposed to kill.
Mr Kanjama would only know later that he was to be eliminated and he is in a state of shock at the grim revelation.
He had been working with Mr Idriss Muktar, former Garissa County finance cec on a case aimed at challenging Governor Korane's academic credentials.
Muktar was himself was shot in the head at close range in his car on his way home after coming from prayers.
Governor Korane, implicated by three suspects in the murder plot, was arrested by the police for questioning.
