On Friday, President Uhuru issued a directive freezing all new development projects until all old ones are completed.

Speaking in Kilifi during a funds drive over the weekend, the DP said that said the projects were there to be launched and contribute to the country’s growth.

“You remember we came here with President Uhuru Kenyatta and launched the Mavueni-Marikani-Kaloleni road, which I believe is now ready and even being used. We will not stop from delivering to Kenyans what they ask. I heard there's an issue on the Mtwapa road, it’s too congested, and we shall build a dual bridge to ease traffic,” he promised.

During event, the DP further slammed critics who he said have taken to recording his trips to the coastal region for political reasons.

“I know some keep on counting and keeping records of how many times I have been in this region, if you think by doing so you’re pleasing your gods and be paid well, go on and keep more records. But always remember I have nobody to ask for permission whenever I want to visit any place in this country, I am the DP, and I was elected to serve my people,” said Ruto.

At the function, a section MPs from the coast vowed to back Ruto in 2022
