A form two boy has died in a school fire that left the property of unknown value destroyed.
The incident took place at Kaptabuk Secondary School in Pokot South.
According to the Standard, the fire broke out on Monday at 10 pm. It was reportedly caused by an electric fault.
West Pokot County Commissioner Apollo Okello confirmed the incident.
Okello told the Standard that the student was sick when the incident occurred as he could not sprint out of the building like other students which saw him get severe burns.
Sources who spoke to the paper said the school rushed the student to Kapenguria Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The incident comes as a school in Nakuru was closed down after a teacher realised that a dormitory had been doused with petrol.
The incident, at Njoro Boys, left teachers and parents in shock over what would have happened as the dormitory had 70 students sleeping.
