Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany has revealed that he will be tabling a bill in Parliament that will seek to enable fresh graduates to apply for Uwezo Fund loans.
According to the MP, this will ensure students in Technical Training Institutes (TTI) after completing their courses get loans for self-employment as their source of income.
Kositany noted that youths have no capital actualize their ideas using skills they get from TTI's, hence the reason behind majority of them being jobless and living hopeless lives.
"The bill will ensure students get loans that will help them put into practice the skills they learnt in class by starting their own ventures. We want to make our youths useful and be transformed from being job seekers to job creators," said the MP who spoke in Eldoret, Wednesday.
Kositany believes with the bill in place and fully implemented by relevant government agencies, unemployment among the youths will be a thing of the past.
"Right now the way Uwezo Fund is structured is that it only gives loans to groups, I want it enhanced so that it can give loans to an individual especially youths who have completed their technical education," he noted.
The first-term legislator further called on the government and private institutions not to have harsh conditions while advertising for job vacancies so that they favour youths who have little or no work experience.
