The Youth for Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) patron has urged the BBI taskforce to include the proposal in its recommendations ahead of its expected referendum proposal.

Speaking on Wednesday, he proposed that the group be entrusted with roles revolving around Visa, forced labour, kidnappings and consular services to Kenyans living outside Kenya.

He also suggested the reduction of nominated senators from the current 10 to 6, changes that will not, however, affect the 47 elected Senators, to lighten the tax burden on Kenyans.

"This amendment reduces the total number of senators to 53 to reduce the wage bill and shoulder citizens from the huge tax burden,” the lawmaker is quoted by the Nation.

The first-term legislator further proposed the amendment of article 203(2) of the constitution to increase county allocations, rooting for 30 per cent of all the collected revenue.

He is expected to formalize his proposal before the 14-member task force at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) on Thursday morning.

The taskforce was compiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to collect views from Kenyans and come up with proposals for a better Kenya.

The man intention was to prevent the recurrent post-election wrangles.
