This is unlike the manual machines that only produce one at a time.

According to Jamlek Wachira, a mechanical engineering student, they came up with the idea in 2015 with the hope that it would help create employment opportunities for the youth.

“The main aim of coming up with the machine was to produce quality building bricks at an affordable rate,” says Wachira.

The machine that is efficient and fast can produce up to 800 well-compacted blocks per day.

“As students, we saw there was increased demand for bricks since most people are engaged in constructing houses and bricks were limited but with the use of this machine, bricks will be readily available,” said the student.

Wachira noted that since the idea was invented in 2015 they have conducted numerous modifications and the machine is now ready to go to the market.

“The machine has cost us Sh300,000 to assemble and we have not yet decided how much we will be selling it,” he noted.

The students are now planning to sell the machines to the youths across the country and help them earn a living.

With the challenge of raising capital for the youths, the Eldoret National Polytechnic students are now challenging the government to support young innovators through Uwez Fund loans.
