Preparations are at an advanced stage for the County Assembly of Uasin Gishu to host the first ever Senate sittings outside Nairobi.
The Eldoret-based County Assembly will be hosting all the 67 Senators who will be transacting Senate plenary for three days in September.
Already the County Assembly has received technical staff from Nairobi who is finalizing preparations for the sittings. The team is reviewing readiness to host the sittings.
Among key areas being reviewed include broadcasting, security, catering among others.
Currently, the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) are on recess to allow for the smooth preparations for the historical event.
Senate Clerk and other top officials had early in July visited the county Assembly where he pointed out that they will be holding their sessions in County Assemblies in a bid to understand how devolution is working for the benefit of the locals.
It will also be used to understand how county assemblies operate.
The Senate sessions will be held from September 24th to 28th.
