Governor John Nyagarama's decision to snub DP William Ruto's Friday trip to Nyamira was pre-planned following consultations with several advisors, an aide has revealed.
Dr Ruto traversed the county in company of Jerusha Momanyi (Nyamira), Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango), Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba) and Ben Momanyi of Borabu.
Conspicuously absent were Nyagarama, Senator Okong'o Mogeni and County Commissioner Amos Mariba, who is yet to issue statement to the effect.
Earlier, Communication Director Kefa Miller claimed that the governor had travelled to Nairobi for official visit, a day to National Breakfast Prayer meeting at Safari Park Hotel.
"The governor will not be available. He is in Nairobi and will be attending National Prayer meeting. He will also attend Madaraka Day in Narok," he said, in reference to the governor's decision to skip Ruto's event.
But an aide who spoke in confidence, claimed that the governor was keen not to 'provoke' State House, a move that could have subjected him to tribulations similar to those of Ferdinand Waititu.
"It was a clever move. He was convinced that government is targeting Governors close to Ruto ij graft purge. He is not ready to face what the likes of Waititu are facing and that's why he skipped," he said.
A similar scenario was seen in Kisii County where Governor James Ongwae also skipped Dr Ruto's event. Curiously, the two county bosses were on Saturday seen in Narok County.
