Chaos as Obado Migori Governor Okoth Obado was on Wednesday caught in a bitter faceoff with one of the county lawmakers over projects in the county.
Obado and Kuria East MP Marwa Kitayama clashed when the county chief visited the constituency for the launch of the Kegonga Sub County Hospital and Sub County offices.
However, hell broke loose when he attempted to defend his leadership over allegations of discriminating the Kuria-speaking constituencies of Kuria East and West.
Obado castigated Kitayama for politicizing his choice of Rongo, Migori and Awendo towns as beneficiaries of the project worth Ksh516 million.
He accused Kitayama of inciting the Kuria people against him and his leadership, adding that he is being used by his (Obado) enemies to harm the Governor's political reputation.
"I have tried to explain to my brother (Mr Kitayama) the truth about the World Bank project but he has refused to listen. He wants to incite the Kuria people against me so that they can think Obado is such a bad person.
He is the only one who knows his aim of besmirching my name. He is here and I do not want to speak behind his back," he was quoted by the Nation.
In anger, the lawmaker charged at the governor at the podium but was restrained by Obado's security detail, as the crowd jeered and shouted down the county boss.
Security personnel at the scene managed to calm some people in the crowd who had resorted to violence and stone throwing.
Emerging details also indicate that Kitayama is against Obado's alleged unwillingness to give Kehancha town a municipality status, yet the lies of Awendo have since earned the title.
Obado is not new to controversies and was late last tear arrested severally for alleged involvement in graft, handling of illegal weapons and murder.
