Murder suspects Joseph Irungu alias Jowie and fiancé Jacque Maribe are expected in court this morning for a ruling on their bail application.
The celebrity couple will face Justice James Wakiaga at the high court.
The two lovers are being charged with the brutal murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
Kimani was murdered and her body dumped in a bathtub at her house in Kilimani on September 19.
Jowie has been reportedly identified as the last person seen in the house by witnesses.
A source at Jowie’s family in Lanet said his family is hard hit by the turn of events facing their son who they raised as a choir boy.
“The family is hard hit. The father says justice should be done but the mother is overwhelmed. She has been in prayers ever since stories started emerging about Irungu. She is really disturbed,” the source said.
The source revealed that Irungu’s mother is packing up a relative’s place in Nairobi as she follows on what befell her son.
“She is having the pain of a mother, having the love of a mother but still wondering if her son actually killed someone,” the source added. In arguing in the case, Jowie’s lawyer Cliff Ombeta said there was ‘nothing for his client to fear that he can jump bail’.
