Although news about the landing of US's most famous president in Kenya have dominated the local media, Nyamira residents have however shifted their focus ahead of Governor John Nyagarama's anticipated return to the country.
Coincidentally, the two will arrive in the country on Monday ven though they will be boarding different flights.
While Nyagarama, who has been away for treatment in the US for three months, will be headed home for his son's burial arrangements, Obama will be few miles away in Kogello where he will be launching Sauti Kuu Foundation, an organisation set by his sister, Auma Obama.
And the news about the two leaders 'homecoming' has elicited mixed reactions with two factions clashing on various social media platforms.
"I am happy that my governor will be rolling in with Obama. This is is a signal of good things to come," wrote Jackson Mogaka in Nyamira politics.
George Momanyi added: "Welcome back my governor. Your humility and that of Obama coincides no wonder you are landing at the same time."
But another user, Edith Nyambega, launched a scathing attack on the governor's followers accusing them of 'narrow mindedness'.
"Obama will be minding his business in Siaya and Nyagarama will be back home to oversee a rotten county. Sycophancy will one day kill some of you."
On Thursday, Nyagarama's deputy, Amos Nyaribo, amade a formal plea to the Obamas to allow Nyanza governors have a meeting with the former president.
His arrival comes at the time the county is embroiled in wrangles that have threatened to curtail service delivery.
In Kisumu on Thursday, Justice Nduma Nderi gave Nyaribo a reprieve after the DG denied contempt of court allegations.
