Maanzo stated that the war against corruption is likely to stall if politicians continue politicizing it.

He said the claims by some politicians that their people and communities are being targeted in the war against graft is uncalled for.

Maanzo argued that the claims of being targeted are well planned to frustrate the renewed fight.

"Politicians must keep politics out of the fight against corruption if we want to secure and save our country from the ongoing looting,” Maanzo said.

He addressed the press in Makueni town on Wednesday.

Maanzo said the attacks targeted at some of the government agencies mandated to fight graft are uncalled for.

“The DCI, the DPP and other agencies must be left to do their work independently as provided for in the Constitution,” he added.

A section of politicians claims that the war on graft is specifically targeting certain individuals.

The politicians, majority from the Rift Valley region, have been quoted accusing the DCI of using the war on graft to block Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambition.

President Kenyatta has maintained that the war against graft will go on and will be extended to counties.

He says no one implicated in graft scandals will be spared.
