A fisherman was on Wednesday killed by a hippopotamus at the shores of Lake Victoria, at Usoma Beach in Kisumu West.
This comes a year after the man identified asHamisi Omari, 23, escaped a crocodile attack in the lake.
The incident happened when he set out alongside his colleague Andrew Oduor on Tuesday. Barely ten minutes after, a hippo attacked, and hit the boat, throwing Hamisi into the water.
Oduor said that Omari was at the back of the boat making it impossible to save him, adding that the hippo might have delivered recently hence its wild nature.
“We suspect the hippo delivered recently and that is why it was so wild. Omari was at the back of the boat. The attack happened so fast that I could not help him,’’ he is quoted by the Standard.
Omari is said to have just resumed his job after spending months in hospital while recuperating from the initial crocodile encounter.
