Mbai said Duale had requested him to allow camels from his constituency to graze and drink water in Kitui East due to prolonged drought being experienced in Garissa.

"Duale has been calling me constantly asking me to allow the camels to feed and drink water but I'm not tolerating that anymore, I won't continue to shoulder his burden," Mbai said.

Mbai said enough is enough since the Somali herdsmen were slowly encroaching into the area.

He addressed the press in his constituency on Wednesday.

Mbai said he won't be cowed by Duale's threats.

He said the herdsmen should be flushed out from the region since they have taken over water points forcing residents to trek in search of the commodity.

Mbai said most families in Kitui East have been forced to flee homes in fear of being attacked by the Somali herders.

He said the herders should be flushed out to avert the catastrophe stating that local farmers cannot till their farms ahead of the heavy rains.

The MP's sentiments were echoed by his Kitui South counterpart Rachel Nyamai who urged the government to compensate families which have lost their kins due to the clashes.

"Most of the families are living in abject poverty due to their kins' deaths as a result of the clashes, they face lots of other socio-economic challenges," Nyamai said.

The two lawmakers said they had held a meeting with the area's county commissioner and agreed on the same.
