Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has blamed local political rivalry for his current political tribulations that could cost him his seat in 2022 polls.
In a candid interview with Citizen TV, Kuria, a close confidant of President Uhuru Kenyatta, says his alleged brutal remarks against the president were misconstrued to shift burden on him.
"They (enemies), changed the narrative. They misconstrued my remarks for political gains. I didn't mean to offend the president as they are trying to portray it," said a much humbled Kuria.
He added: "When other regions are inviting the president for meaningful functions, Ferdinand Waititu and Gathoni was Muchomba are competing in recruiting alcoholics. This is what I was discouraging."
At the eve of the New Year, a visibly tipsy Kuria claimed that Central Kenya region was being used as voting machines with little or no development in return.
He said: "We must be careful this year. We are being used as voting robots when other regions are getting development. We must resist such nonsense."
In his view, both Waititu and Gathoni have misinterpreted the statement due to their own failures to put him at loggerheads with President Uhuru Kenyatta, his old buddy.
Last year in October, local media reported that Uhuru confronted Kuria at leaders meeting in Nyeri over persistent politicking in what was interpretated as warning to his close ties with Deputy President William Ruto.
