Pupils of Kibilay Primary School in Garissa County are living in fear following the brutal murder of a class eight girl just a few meters from the school compound.
The brutal murder, which happened in October, has caused fear and panic even as candidates in the school prepare to sit for their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
Several candidates in the school who spoke to a local TV channel revealed that they cannot remain in school as the incident is still fresh in their minds and the memory of their slain colleague keeps on tormenting them.
"We cannot stay in class. We cannot revise. The memory death of Rhamat Jakhow keeps on affecting us. She was a good and very disciplined pupil who was waiting to sit for her exams this year," narrated one of the pupils.
The school head Abdikadir Ahmed reiterated the pupils' concerns saying they were deeply affected by the incident. Abdikadir revealed that slain pupil was butchered by a man just a few metres from the school, at a place called Water Borehole.
"Rahmat Jakhow was butchered by a man several metres from the school compound at a place called Water Borehole. Unfortunately, she died on the spot," stated Abdikadir.
The school head further said that medical reports from the Garissa county hospital indicated that the killer man was of sound mind. Here is the video.
