Have you ever lost something you thought was in the safest place? You were obviously shocked, right? This is the kind of shock that hit villagers in Bolo location in Nyakatch, Kisumu county in April this year, when a body mysteriously disappeared from the grave.
Ms Joyce Auma had been buried two years prior, but would on the day be found missing from the coffin, despite her family members confirming that there was no land dispute on the spot of her grave which could have led to her silent exhumation.
Her father Michael confirmed that there were also no known reasons that could have led to assailants raiding the grave and taking her away, as though she had been in three unsuccessful marriages, none of her former husbands or their kins had claimed her body for burial.
‘’She (Ms Auma) had had three unsuccessful marriages, her former husbands who had abandoned her neither attended her burial nor claimed her body,’’ he told the Daily Nation.
The case would later be taken up by area Chief Zedekiah Okello who reported it to the police, with other villagers creating jokes out of the bizarre incident and likening it to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, since it happened in the month of Easter.
