Kenyans are the most amazing humans living on earth. If it is not a video of a guzzler moving rhythmically at the car park (with some humans doing monkey business inside), it is naming a village Thugunui.
In Gilgil Constituency, Nakuru, there is a village atop a mountain that is called Thugunui.
It is inhabited by up to 30, 000 people spread across a radius of about 13km.
There is a primary school known as Thugunui.
I can’t imagine someone asking the kids, which school are you from?
"Thugunuuuuiiii primary schooool!"
Haha, honestly the first time I was told about this village I thought my friend was kidding me!
How do you on earth call a place Thugunui???
I can only imagine meeting a slay queen from this place in Nairobi.

According to residents, the name was borrowed from a Maasai word, Sokonoi, meaning a place of bitter herbs trees.
However, it is now inhabited by Kikuyus and they corrupted it to Thugunui.
The word sounds so bad in their vernacular.
Interestingly, nui pronounced as noi means being naked!
My walk in the village, however, did not spot any naked person.
They are a charming people proud of being Thugunians, or what do you call people from Thugunui?
