Political analyst Professor Edward Kisiang'ani has pointed out that the worst thing Deputy President William Ruto can do is to resign.
Addressing the apparent division in the Jubilee party, Professor Kisiang'ani said that resigning was the worst thing the DP could do since that's what his critics allegedly want. This, he says, will allow them to frustrate and humiliate him.
“The worse thing to do now is to resign because that is what his detractors want to achieve by humiliating him. If he decides to quit they would extremely frustrate and humiliate him,” Prof. Kisiang'ani said.
The Deputy President and his allies have reportedly faced humiliation in the recent days with the latest case being that of DP Ruto being locked out of his official residence.
The University professor further added that Ruto's resignation would allow his critics to brand them a rebel for their political mileage.
“Right now that is not an option because they will frustrate him and label him as a rebel who fought his boss,” he added.
The humiliation, however, the analyst says may work to DP Ruto's advantage by earning him sympathetic support. This he says maybe so if he stays and plays the victim.
“By remaining, he will be playing the victim card that will help his course. In western Kenya for instance, he is already gaining traction because of this perceived political persecution,” he noted.
