Dr Ruto, for the second day in a row, visited Nyamira County. On Friday, Ruto was the chief guest in a fundraiser at Ekerenyo in North Mugirango.

The DP visited Tente SDA Church on Saturday where he donated Sh1.5 million, seizing the opportunity to slam his critics.

"Kenyans are tired with rhetoric. We have a shortage of fools. As goverment, we shall continue rolling our projects to all regions," he said while launching last mile connectivity in West Mugirango.

Soon after DP left for the neighbouring Kitutu Masaba constituency, the youths poured into the streets of Nyamira, chanting anti-Tanga Tanga slogans.

Riding on motorbikes, the team carried placards written "Respect Matiang'i" while some read "Abagusii people deserve respect"

A demonstrator Kevin Onyancha said: "We are against this culture of making our MPs lazy. They move around with handouts abusing Dr Matiang'i. We had to show their master that we are tired."

Dr Matiang'i and Ruto's teams have been at loggerheads for months in Gusii. The powerful minister is said to be planning to venture into national politics.

The DP is currently leading a fundraiser for St Paul Gekano Parish in Kitutu Masaba constituency. Area MP Shadrack Mose is the host.

Protesting youths were blocked by armed police officers at Soronga. The team is also said to be furious at West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi, a close ally of Ruto.

Saturday's trip by Dr Ruto was the 25th to Gusii region since 2017 with sources intimating that he's keen to dislodge ODM dominance in Gusii.
