Safaricom has announced that its shops across the country will remain closed for hours on Thursday in honour of the late CEO the late Bob Collymore.
The shops will not be operational from 10.30am to 2.30pm. During this duration, Safaricom fraternity and other members of the public will attend a Memorial Service which will be held at the All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi.
“As a mark of respect for our cherished leader, Safaricom shall be closing all our shops countrywide on Thursday 4th July 2019 between the hours of 10.30am and 2.30pm,” the telco said in a statement, as quoted by Capital FM.
Bob Collymore was cremated on Tuesday after he died on Monday. The Guyana-born boss died after a long battle with cancer.
It emerged that doctors had told him not to make any long term plans after the diagnosis. Safaricom has named Michael Joseph as interim CEO pending appointment process. President Uhuru Kenyatta led Kenyans in mourning the demise of Collymore.
He eulogised him as a great man who changed the lives of Kenyans during his reign. The deceased had requested to be cremated a private function. The event was attended by close friends and family members. His death has shocked millions of Kenyans.
