A 'man of God' is among three suspects that were on Saturday arrested in Watamu, Malindi, in connection to criminal activities.
Malindi sub-county Police Commander Phillip Wambugu told the media that the three were nabbed at Timboni area following a tip-off from the residents.
A firearm and rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
“Following tip offs from at least six members of the public, our officers commenced investigations that led to the arrests. We assure the informers that we shall protect their confidentiality,” Wambugu said as quoted by Citizen.
A number of smartphones and sim cards were also recovered from the suspects.
“We recovered four smart phones and eight sim cards from the suspects when our officers stormed their house. Five identity cards belonging to suspected victims of crimes were also recovered," he added.
Malindi Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Anthony Sunguti said that the suspects' identity will be revealed at a later stage after investigations are done, where they will be paraded for victims so that their previous crime can be brought to book and charged.
“We will be moving to court on Monday to request them (suspects) to be detained as we want to summon victims of previous crimes so that we present the suspects for an identification parade since they might be linked to previous crimes,” said Sunguti.
