Detectives will now have to subject lawyer Assa Nyakundi's vehicle to yet another ballistic examination after an autopsy report released on Thursday contradicted the advocate's account on the death of his son Joseph.
At the Muthaiga Police Station, Nyakundi claimed he had shot dead his son accidentally when adjusting his gun in it's pocket, adding that no confrontations was ensued between the two.
But according to the report by government pathologist Johansen Oduor, the deceased was likely confronted before being shot dead by someone from outside the vehicle, a total contradiction from what the father said.
“The shot projection from the chest exiting at the back suggested that whoever shot him was standing outside the rear right back door of motor vehicle KCE 753B Toyota Axio which belongs to the father of deceased,” reads the report in part as seen by Citizen Digital.
“The angle of shooting according to the projection could be ninety degrees, suggesting there was a confrontation."
Mr Nyakundi is recovering from high blood pressure and shock at Nairobi Hospital while the body of his son still lies at Aga Khan Hospital, not far away from where he's admitted.
His family at Gusii, led by Rev Eliud Nyakundi, defended him insisting that he had nothing against his son and that the two stayed together. He said his brother is a church elder and respects morals.
The two were coming from church before the death on Sunday. But the pathologist insists that a confrontation must have ensued before the brutal death of Mr Joseph Nyakundi.
