An elected MP has asked Kisii County Governor James Ongwae to follow President Uhuru Kenyatta's footsteps in the fight against corruption in his administration.
Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati said Governor Ongwae may not leave a legacy once he leaves office in 2022 if he can't end graft.
"Corruption is an enemy to development and must be fought by all means. Ongwae should emulate President Uhuru Kenyatta in fighting cartels stealing public funds by ensuring the offenders are apprehended and prosecuted accordingly," he said.
Arati who doubles as the Gusii community spokesman accused Governor Ongwae of being sluggish in his leadership since devotion started 6 years ago.
"Projects have stalled such as Avocado factory because Ongwae is never serious. We want to witness him working hard to implement the campaign promises. No one will listen to his excuses for inadequate development in the county," said Arati.
The vocal MP urged elected leaders from the Gusii community to embrace unity and speak in one voice and champion for development across the larger Gusii region.
He noted that divisive politics won't help any politician clinch a political seat in 2022.
