The ongoing fight against corruption is stage-managed by State House and it's mission is not sincere, Economist David Ndii has argued.
In yet another swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration, Dr Ndii, in a tweet, asked the state to 'stop targeting' Dr Ruto in the crackdown, arguing that neither him nor Uhuru have acquired genuine properties.
"Let Ruto keep his loot. This is not a war on corruption or money laundering, it is a political fallout of thieves. Only difference is Uhuru owns a bank to launder his loot. He who seeks justice must do so with clean hands. Uhuru’s hands are not clean," wrote Dr Ndii.
DP Ruto has often questioned the sincerity in the fight against corruption, arguing that it's motive is to stop his 2022 presidential bid.
But the Head of State has often dismissed the claims, insisting that he's keen to leave behind a legacy by fighting cartels. Also, Uhuru has often maintained that the graft purge has nothing to do with communities.
“It is not me…corruption has been identified as a stumbling block towards achieving prosperity and equality. Again there is no politics there…let us allow the agencies to do their work. Let us not turn this to community fights, to individual fights,” the Head of State said in a past function as quoted by the Nation.
“You will hear that so and so is being targeted but we must deal with corruption. The fact is that whether we want to accept it or not, it exists and it is an impediment and a stumbling block. Let us not politicise it, or tribalise it. Let us find the formula to fight it,” he said.
According to Dr Ndii, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family should also be questioned for alleged loss of millions of taxpayers money.
In his defense, Uhuru has often maintained that he's ready to account for all of his wealth. He has also challenged his critics to provide evidence of corruption against him to the DCI.
