The County Government of Kwale has underscored the need to have a public enquiry and investigation on land issues across the County.

Governor Salim Mvurya said his administration has partnered with the National Land Commission (NLC) and the Ministry of Land with an aim of holding public inquiries and ensure Kwale residents get title deeds.

He said the inquiry will kick-off on November 26, where officials from the three institutions will listen to public utilities cases in Diani settlement scheme, Diani complex, Ukunda settlement scheme, at KSG Matuga. 

"We want citizens to own their land by getting tittle deeds. As government we want to instill sanity in our county on matters land," he said on Wednesday.

On November 27, the official will have a public hearing on Mwavumbo group ranch, including the illegal leases; while on November 28, the officials will head to South Samburu group ranch where they will listen to issues of illegal subdivision and Taru ranch which has a illegal lease renewal challenges.

Governor Mvurya underscored the importance of these engagements and urge all citizens from the said areas to come out and participate in the exercise.

He said such exercises form a critical platform for land injustice victims to voice their concerns for redress by the relevant offices.
