Speaking during a church service at the Saba Saba Catholic church, in the presence of several other Jubilee MPs, the Senator admitted that the party is indeed divided into two, one being the President Uhuru Kenyatta-allied Kieleweke team.

He also admitted the existence of the Deputy President William Ruto-allied Tanga-tanga movement within the party.

Irungu noted that the division is badly ailing the once invincible party.

"Our party is heading in a wrong direction because the two factions of Tanga-tanga and Kieleweke teams are creating hatred amongst their colleagues who they perceive to be in rival camps,” he was quoted by the Nation.

On his side, Gatanga MP Nduati Ngugi called for a reunion, stressing on the need for the team to once again unite under the President as it was the case before.

The latter who is being associated with the Kieleweke team urged fellow Jubilee members to support Uhuru in his anti-graft campaign, one of the issues that have led to the division.

“We must not politicise war on graft and we must support the President when he is fighting graft including those who stole the money for the dams projects,” he said.

However, Uhuru who is the party leader is yet to speak on the division claims while Ruto insists that there are no factions in the party.
