Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua will meet next week in efforts to bury their political hatchet and push for the Kamba community's unity ahead of 2022 general election.
Kalonzo and Mutua who met at the wedding of Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana's son at Karen Community Church in Nairobi on Saturday agreed to have a meeting next week.
The two leaders who fell out in 2013 have not been seeing eye to eye politically.
In a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, Governor Mutua said he met Kalonzo and shared little moments.
"It was great to reconnect with H.E.Kalonzo Musyoka, we enjoyed moments of laughter and agreed to call each other this coming week," Mutua posted.
Last week in an interview with a local TV station, Mutua said he is ready to reconcile and work with Kalonzo.
The Machakos Governor said he no longer holds any political grudge against the former Vice President.
Governor Mutua also lauded Kalonzo's decision to support and work with President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.
A section of Kamba politicians has been piling pressure on Kalonzo and Mutua to reconcile for the community to achieve its development agenda.
Both Kalonzo and Governor Mutua have declared interests in the 2022 presidential election.
