Leaders from Gusii region have opposed the High court Judge Lesse Jessit's decision to free Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado.
The leaders led by Thomas Nyangaresi, former Bomariba ward MCA aspirant claimed that justice has been defeated following the release of Governor Obado.
"I strongly oppose the release of Governor Obado. His co-accused could have been released and Obado to remain in custody because he ordered them to kidnap and kill Sharon Otieno.
"I am very disappointed the Judge's decision to free the criminal," said Nyangaresi on Wednesday at Igonga area, Bonchari in Kisii County.
The ANC politician called on ODM party to kick out Governor Obado from the party.
"ODM should not keep on having Obado in the party. It is high time the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to kick him out," he said.
Rachael Otundo, another local politician who has been championing for women rights said the court's decision is unacceptable.
"The DPP should appeal and have Obado taken back to prison because he belongs there. He is a murderer and should remain in custody until the case is heard and ruled," she noted.
Obado was released on Sh5 million cash bail on Wednesday pending the hearing and determination of the case.
