A 13-year-old girl in Suna West, Migori County has been expelled from school on suspicion of being possessed with the devil.
The Class 7 pupil at Nyamome Primary School was accused of being a member of a devil worship group. She was further accused of planning to recruit other pupils into the group.
The school is believed to have expelled the girl three weeks ago after she often collapsed
“The girl could collapse and start uttering unintelligible words as if she was communicating to spirits. She has been doing this for some time hence scaring the other pupils. This perhaps why the school administration decided to expel her,” a teacher at the school is quoted by Nation.
According to the minor, she does not understand why she is not in school anymore.
“I am accused of something I even don’t even understand. I like going to school but now I have been barred. I just stay at home not knowing what to do,” said the girl.
Her mother has also refuted the claims urging the ministry of education to intervene.
