Supreme Court judge Justice Njoki Ndung’u has written to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) inviting detectives to probe her.
Njoki, through her lawyer Andrew Musangi, wants parallel investigations alongside those of Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
This is after the judge was mentioned in a petition filed before JSC touching on Wajir gubernatorial election case where petitioner claims money exchanged hands.
Njoki, in the letter seen by the Standard, says she is ready to be investigated and charged if found culpable.
“Such matters call for immediate, thorough and impartial investigations by a department equipped to delve into the matter and unearth the factual basis of these claims and even more importantly initiate prosecution of anyone found culpable,” the letter says.
Njoki said she takes the allegations against her extremely serious and they are not only judicial misconduct but criminal in nature.
She called on sleuths taking up the matter to call her anytime for grilling.
“Our client is prepared to immediately record a full statement once requested by your office to do so and cooperate fully with your investigations not only as a Supreme Court judge but as a Kenyan who wants to support fight against corruption,” she states in the letter.
Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi raised a storm on tweet after the verdict on the Wajir gubernatorial case where he accused four judges of the apex court of receiving millions to give a favourable ruling.
