An elected MP allied to ODM party in Kisii County has questioned President Uhuru Kenyatta's silence over the hiked fuel prices in the country.
Kisii County women representative Janet Ong'era while speaking at Magena primary school in Sensi ward on Tuesday said President Uhuru Kenyatta should speak out on the hiked fuel prices.
"It is worrying that Kenyans are still buying petroleum products at high prices even after everyone had expectations that the Head of State will give directions once he returns to the country. I am urging Uhuru to speak out and ensure the fuel prices are lowered down," she noted.
According to the lawmaker, the 16 per cent VAT on petroleum products should be removed because Kenyans can't be forced to pay more and help the government to pay debts.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta should sit down with his cabinet and find an alternative on how his government can pay the huge debts following the huge borrowings from foreign countries," she added.
She said Finance Cs Henry Rotich should be impeached because he has failed to advise the president accordingly on financial matters in this country.
