The three-day Sustainable Blue Economy Conference kicked off on Monday. The meeting which is being hosted at Kenyatta International Conventional Centre (KICC) in Nairobi is attended by President Kenyatta among other leaders from other countries.
Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko was also in attendance. During the meeting, he gave a speech that has since left everyone talking.
He read his speech with an American accent, pronouncing some words with a tweng.
“It is my pleasure to join you for this important conference that seeks to explore the social and economic potential of our oceans, lakes, rivers and all waters bodies. Let me start by extending a warm welcome to Nairobi city, our hospitality is unmatched and I am confident that you will enjoy your stay here very much,” reads part of his speech.
The high-level meeting’s focus is about how countries will use water bodies, i.e oceans, lakes, seas and river for the growth of their economy, improve their people’s lifestyles and create opportunities for employment.
Sonko was bold to brag about the good things in Nairobi city.
“Nairobi is the home of two united nation headquarters, UNEP and UN Habitat. We the only capital city in the world with a park where you will find all kinds of animals,” he said.
