Locals chiefs in Itibo-Kenyerere, Kisii County are in a panic mode after area assistant county commissioner threatened to push their sacking and prosecution if they sleep on the job.
Faith Musili on Sunday while addressing a public baraza in the area said she won't condone lazy chiefs.
"Chiefs must work to ensure zero cases of crime is reported in the area failure to which I will push for the local administrators' sacking and prosecution," she noted.
She appealed to chiefs to represent the government well in their jurisdiction areas.
According to Ms. Musili, chiefs should be at the front line fighting crime and report criminals to police without delay.
"Chiefs should be watchdogs for the government in local villages. Parents who also fail to take their children to school must be reported to police by chiefs for arrests to be made," she added.
The police boss said she is not ready to lose her job just because of the lazy chiefs who will not work around the clock for the purpose of ensuring the government is represented well at the village level.
