Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has maintained that the ex-East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Peter Mathuki does not deserve to be former Wavinya Ndeti's running mate in case of a gubernatorial by-election.
Muthama says the former legislature was not the right pick as Ndeti's running mate in 2017.
He argues the Wiper party will lose miserably in case Ndeti maintains Mathuki as her deputy in the looming by-election.
In an interview with a local daily on Monday, Muthama said Mathuki is the reason why Ndeti lost in 2017.
"I still maintain that Mathuki is not fit and Wiper should pick someone else in case of a by-election in Machakos," Muthama said.
Muthama said he has nothing personal against Mathuki.
The politician, however, maintained that Mathuki has to step down if the county goes to a by-election.
Muthama who has since threatened to contest for the seat wants former Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala nominated as Ndeti's running mate.
"Kiala will be the right person to deputize Wavinya Ndeti if Wiper is keen on unseating Governor Mutua in case of a by-election," Muthama said.
He said Kiala is a household name and will guarantee Ndeti's win.
Muthama exuded confidence that Machakos electorates will return to the ballot.
The Court of Appeal nullified Mutua's election in June on grounds that it was not free and fair.
Mutua, however, appealed the ruling at the Supreme Court.
The appeal is pending hearing and determination.
