A woman has told a Kisumu Law court how her six-month old infant was defiled.
Appearing before Kisumu Resident Magistrate Angeline Adawo on Wednesday, the woman noted that the heinous act was done by a close family friend, and a neighbor.
The April 24 incident happened after she left her baby with the perpetrator to go to a miller, to mill rice in Ahero, Kisumu county.
“He is a close friend and I had served him tea,” the mother was quoted by the Standard.
The accused then agreed to take the baby and watcher over her while the mother was away.
When the baby was returned, she was crying uncontrollably, forcing the mother to examine her as attempts to calm her down by breastfeeding were futile.
The baby, she painfully narrated, was bleeding from her swollen privates, after which she rushed her to a nearby dispensary for medical examination.
She was referred to Kisumu County Hospital, adding that a doctor had confirmed that the baby was a victim of defilement, advising her to raise the issue with the police.
The case hearing has been set for October 9.
