Dr Njeri Ndung'u wedded Dr Nyotu Gitau at a colourful wedding in PCEA Runda, before the couples and guests moved to Windsor Hotel for reception.

But the presence of Mama Ngina and Muhoho Kenyatta in the wedding could spark a debate over the relationship between the governor and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This was the second function the Kenyatta matriarch was making public appearance in as many weeks. A fortnight ago, she attended the memorial of former Head of Civil Service Jeremiah Kiereini.

During the event, Mama Ngina, who is believed to be among decision makers in State House, asked youths to be patriotic to the country for the sake of unity.

“I ask the current generation to put the interests of the country first so that you can steer this country in the right direction and inculcate good morals and patriotism to your children," she said.

And in recent weeks, Governor Waititu seems to be falling out with Uhuru's administration. The president is said to be unhappy with his premature 2022 campaigns for DP William Ruto.

The county boss has been accusing the state of witch-hunt, arguing that authorities are harassing him on the pretext of fake corruption charges.

“The search and seizure of my documents was done beyond what the law allows. The intention was to humiliate me and my family. They even held my official vehicle for two weeks without any court order to embarrass me,” said Waititu.

EACC has been on the neck of Mr Waititu, accusing him of violating procurement rules in awarding of Sh550 million tender to companies owned by his wife and daughter.
