Preparations for this year’s Jamhuri Celebrations in Uasin Gishu County scheduled for December 12, 2019, are complete.
According to Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa, the historical day which is celebrated to remember when the country became a republic from the colonial government will be celebrated at Teachers Advisory Center (TAC) grounds in Eldoret town.
“Preparations for the 56th Jamuhuri day celebrations in Uasin Gishu County are complete. All the necessary logistics, including security, entertainment, seating, and parking arrangements are in place," said the Uasin Gishu County commissioner.
Jaldesa who spoke to the press in Eldoret town on Tuesday urged Uasin Gishu residents to turn up in large numbers to hear from both the national and county government leaders who will be present.
The event is expected to start at 10:00 am where residents will be entertained with cultural dances before hearing from the leaders.
“This year we have changed the venue from the usual 64 stadium to TAC centre grounds. The chief guest will be Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago who will be accompanied by other County officials and political leaders," added Jaldesa.
Local leaders and the regional administration have been holding regular meetings planning for the day as several choirs continue practising in the area ahead of the day.
