A form three boy has reportedly committed suicide after his girlfriend allegedly cheated on him.
The deceased, who was a student at Lumama mixed secondary school in Lugari, Kakamega County, reportedly committed suicide on Thursday after discovering that his girlfriend was in another relationship.
Reports indicate that that the boy poisoned himself, and died while undergoing treatment.
Area chief Evans Adavaji confirmed the case, adding that the boy the boy was rushed to hospital for treatment, but did not survive.
"After the boy heard that his girlfriend in form two had another boyfriend, he took the poison… He was later taken to Lumakanda Sub-County hospital after the attempted suicide," he said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Meanwhile, schools have closed for the second term holiday where students are expected to stay at home for one month before resuming for third term.
Last month, over 50 students were arrested in Nakuru while smoking bhang and watching pornographic content.
The students, who are from different schools were traveling home before they decided to stop over at the town.
