Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago had recently gone to inspect the Eldoret Water Supply project at the Ellegerini where he publicly expressed his feelings over intermarriages.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

It is during this occasion that he told the Chinese contractor working on the water project to consider getting himself a wife among the natives of Uasin Gishu.

"And to you, the contractor, make sure that you localise your operations and find a wife here," the County boss told the Chinese contractor who all along kept smiling from his seat.

Mandago also lashed at the Chinese for pretending that he did understand Swahili. The intermarriage between Chinese and locals according to Mandago could be of benefit to the county.

That said, if the Chinese agreed to heed to the governors' advise, there are three ways the intermarriage will be beneficial;

Encourage more economic development

When a lady from Uasin Gishu gets married to a Chinese, she will automatically get links to China which is among the best economies globally now. With the links, more investors from China are likely to pitch camp in the county which will subsequently turn into economic growth.

Increase friendship

Intermarriage between communities encourages friendships. A marriage between a Chnarriese and a local in the county will eventually culminate into locals-Chinese friendship. This will make it easy to benefit from the Chinese superior skills in technology, especially in the construction sector.

Guaranteed quality work

Chinese contractor marrying a local will in one way or the other help in achieving the best water project. The contractor will definitely put his best feet forward and ensure he delivers a quality project that won't disappoint his 'in-laws'.
