Garissa county government has said it will compensate two families whose houses were brought down by hired goons at Modikar village on Tuesday night.
According to the County Secretary Abdi Muhumed Ali who visited the affected households on Wednesday afternoon, the county administration will support the two families by giving them food as well as building new houses even as relevant agencies pursue an unidentified businessman who reportedly sponsored the demolition.
As reported by the Garissa County Government Press Unit, Abdi Muhumed in the company of County Chief Health officer Isnino Rage also delivered food supplies in their Wednesday visit.
"He promised the families that the County government will give them necessary support that would help them overcome the painful ordeal," the County Press Unit reported.
In the latest incident of security lapse in the region, a powerful businessman is said to have hired goons from a nearby town to demolish specific houses in an alleged case of land grabbing. The incident also left individuals nursing bodily injuries.
Amid brewing tension, security agencies have been marshalled to the village in a bid to stop more attacks. However, no arrests have so far been affected even as police commence their investigation into the matter.
