Kisumu Women Representative Rosa Buyu has sympathised with Migori Governor Okoth Obado's wife Hellen Obado following the death of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
Otieno, a second-year medical records and information student, was brutally murdered last week and her body dumped in a forest in Homa Bay County.
Governor Obado has already admitted that Otieno, who was carrying a seven-month-old pregnancy, was his lover but denied accusations that he was behind her killing.
On Wednesday, the county boss, accompanied by his wife Hellen and their two children, said his family had been saddened by Otieno's death adding it has disturbed their sleep and appetite for food.
"On my behalf, and on the behalf of my family, I want to send my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Sharon," Obado said during a press conference in Nairobi.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Thursday, Buyu hit out at Obado for dragging his family into his extra-marital affairs and observed that Hellen was going through a hard time over the saga which has been in the headlines for over a week now.
"When a man or a woman has an affair outside marriage they are doing it individually. My heart goes out to the Governor’s wife who must be broken after news alleging that her husband is linked to Sharon," the MP said.
Buyu further asked Kenyans to stop demonising the varsity student for being in a romantic relationship with a married man but instead agitate that her family gets justice.
"A lot of people are also attacking Sharon because of the alleged affair she had with the Governor, but let us remember that no human being deserves to go through what she experienced," Buyu urged.
