A day after The Kenya Airport Workers Union (KAWU) disrupted flights at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi no2 wants the government to disclose the details of a deal by Kenya Airways (KQ) to take over the facility.
Mudavadi, who has been vocal on matters of national interest, urged the government to investigate graft claims linked to the airport before it is too late.
Speaking to the press on Thursday in Nairobi, Mudavadi said that Kenyans are very keen on the management of the facility. He also said that the citizens of this nation have already lost confidence in the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“The government is now trying to merge the Kenya Airports Authority and the Kenya Airways in a highly opaque and suspicious manner,” said Mr Mudavadi as quoted by Daily Nation.
He further said that the people of Kenya are tired of poor leadership and time has come for them to rise up.
He also said that his party is concerned with the way the government averted the strike of the workers. Government was forced to deploy Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) to the airport to calm the situation.
MPs have since halted the takeover of the facility. The have also asked the office of the auditor General to investigate circumstances behind the deal.
