Speaking during the ongoing conference on universal health care in Kisumu County, Mutua said that the county governments can offer better healthcare services than the national government.

He noted that devolution has proven to work and urged Kenyans from different quarters to support the same.

“The ongoing games meant to galvanize a push for healthcare to revert back to the National Government has nothing to with provision of health services to poor Kenyans but a clamour for money," he said.

He also said that he is happy with President Uhuru Kenyatta for the role he has played in the transformation of the health sector since he took over power.

Mutua said that the current regime has played a great role in the changes witnessed in the health care sector of the past years.

He said that President Uhuru Kenyatta deserves credit for the same and added that Kenya is poor because of the poor choices of leaders with keep electing over years.

Governor Mutua challenges Kenyans to resist poor governance for the sake of economic development and insisted that he is fully behind health care provision for his people before he completes his second and final term in government.

"I congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta for your quest for the provision of universal health care in Kenya,” he said.

Uhuru has been reiterating his stand on better health care since he retained his position.
