President Uhuru Kenyatta has found himself on the receiving end hours after congratulating his Nigerian counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari, on his re-election.
Buhari was re-elected for a second four-year term final results from Saturday's general election showed.
In a tweet, Kenyatta said that Buhari's re-election was clear confidence that the Nigerians had with him.
"Congratulations...your victory is a clear demonstration of the trust and confidence the people of Nigeria have in your ability to lead the country to greater heights of progress," Uhuru said.
President Kenyatta's tweet attracted mixed reactions among Kenyans who used the opportunity to discredit his regime.
This comes a time when he faces an uphill task to prove himself in his last term in office amid of rampant cases of corruption.
A number of Kenyans believed that Nigeria's election was not free and fair after being postponed and surrounded by other controversies.
Others opined that Kenyatta should concentrate on cleaning the corruption mess that is ruining the country's economy.
